Gases implied in greenhouse effect :

  • CFCs (Chlorofluorocarbon) : gases that can be dissociated by solar radiation, which release chlorine, which in turn destroys ozone.

  • Methane : A hydrocarbon that is a greenhouse gas with a global warming potential.

  • Carbon Dioxide : It is a greenhouse gas that traps terrestrial (ie, infrared) radiation and conrtibutes to the potential for the global warming.

  • Nitrous oxide : A polluant that is a greenhouse gas (chemical symbol N2O). It is mainly produced by burning fossil fuel (eg; emissions from gasoline in a car).
